The AI said no. Here is why, and what to do.
A refusal is the guard doing its job. In most cases one of six rules is involved, and most can be fixed in minutes by the right person.
The six usual reasons
Find yours.
The data filter hides it
Your administrator hid that folder, sender or item. This is intended. Ask IT if the rule is too strict.
It is in someone else's mailbox
By default the AI reaches only the mailbox of the person asking.
The action is not allowed
The AI cannot send, delete or move mail. It can search, show, save a draft and propose.
You are not enabled
Your administrator has to add you to the people who may use AI.
Not supported on that platform
Some item types are not available everywhere. For example, iCloud tasks are not supported, and iCloud works with calendar and contacts.
An approval is waiting
A change that needs your confirmation does nothing until you approve it.
What to do
Four steps, in this order.
Read the message
The refusal usually names the rule.
Check your request
Are you asking for something in your own mailbox, that the AI is allowed to do?
Ask your administrator
If the rule looks wrong, they can change the filter or add you.
Write to us
If it still makes no sense, send the time and what you asked. The journal helps us find it.
Questions
Can I switch the filter off for myself?
No. The filter is set by your administrator for the whole organisation.
Is a refusal recorded?
Journal entries show who asked, when and which button was used. Ask us about the exact fields in your setup.
Can the AI explain the rule?
The refusal message names what stopped the request. Your administrator sees the settings.
Stop talking about it. Test it.
Connect a few mailboxes for 14 days. Your rules, your filter, your journal. If it does not earn its place, switch it off.
